Dice Box
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Hiroaki Arimura, doing business as Defacto (“we,” “us”) handles information in the dice app “Dice Box” (the “App”; shown on the home screen as “サイコロ” in Japanese). It applies to both the iPhone/iPad version and the Android version.
1Summary
- The App has no accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email address or phone number through the App.
- Your roll history, favorites and settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to our servers.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google uses information such as your advertising ID to deliver them.
- To check your purchase status, RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user ID and your purchase records.
- We do not sell your information.
2Information stored only on your device
The App stores the following on your device. We do not receive this information.
- The history of your dice rolls
- Dice sets you save as favorites
- Settings such as theme, dice color, sound effects and haptics, and your last dice setup
Deleting the App deletes this information. If you use a device backup (iCloud Backup or Google backup), the information may be included in that backup, which is governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms.
3Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the App shows ads using Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. Ads are not shown to users who have purchased Pro.
The App shows two types of ads. Interstitial ads are full-screen ads shown between screens. Rewarded ads are ads you choose to watch; each one gives you one more play in the “Games” tab.
To serve ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK collects information such as the following and sends it to Google:
- Your advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android). On iOS, IDFA is used only if you allow tracking
- Your IP address and the approximate location derived from it
- Device information such as model, OS version and language
- Ad impressions and taps, and information about your use of the App
- Diagnostic information such as ad loading times and SDK crash logs
App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS, the App asks for your permission through Apple’s system prompt before it uses your IDFA. If you do not allow tracking, the App does not use your IDFA. All features of the App work either way. Ads are still shown, but they are not personalized to your interests.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the App shows a consent form using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). In this form you can choose whether to consent to personalized ads and to the use of information for advertising. If you do not consent, you will see non-personalized ads. You can change your choice later from the App’s settings screen.
How to opt out of personalized ads
- iPhone/iPad: go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and turn tracking off for the App.
- Android: go to Settings > Privacy > Ads (on some devices Settings > Google > Ads) and delete or reset your advertising ID.
- You can also manage Google ad settings at My Ad Center.
For how Google handles information, see the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
4Purchase management (RevenueCat)
The App uses RevenueCat, a service of RevenueCat, Inc., to check the status of your Pro purchase. RevenueCat processes:
- An anonymous app user ID that the App creates for each device (it is not linked to your name or email address)
- Purchase records (product, purchase date, expiry, renewal or cancellation status, country and currency of purchase, and similar)
- Technical information such as device model, OS version, App version and IP address
In the RevenueCat dashboard we can see purchase status per anonymous ID and aggregated revenue. For how RevenueCat handles information, see the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
5Payments (Apple and Google)
Pro is paid through the Apple App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android. We do not receive your credit card number or other payment details. See the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
6How information is used
We and the services we use process the information above only to:
- Show ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud
- Unlock Pro features you have purchased, restore purchases, and answer questions about purchases
- Investigate and fix problems in the App
7Sharing and international transfers
We do not share your information with third parties except:
- When Google and RevenueCat receive information through their SDKs in the App, as described in Sections 3 and 4
- When you consent
- When required by law
Google and RevenueCat are based in the United States. Information they receive may be stored and processed outside your country, including in the United States. Each company protects information under its own privacy policy.
8Retention and deletion
- Information on your device remains until you clear it in the App or delete the App.
- Information received by Google and RevenueCat is kept for the periods set out in their privacy policies.
- If you want your purchase records at RevenueCat deleted, contact us (Section 11). After confirming the records are yours, we will ask RevenueCat to delete them. We cannot delete purchase records held by Apple or Google.
9Children
The App is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have received such information, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians with concerns can contact us (Section 11).
10Your choices and rights
- You can change tracking and ad settings at any time as described in Section 3.
- Purchasing Pro removes ads.
- Deleting the App deletes all information stored on your device.
- You may request access, correction or deletion under laws such as Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the EU GDPR or the California CCPA by contacting us (Section 11). Because we hold only anonymous IDs and purchase records, we may ask for the order number on your App Store or Google Play receipt to find your records.
